As Christmas creeps closer, celebrate the festive season with another exlusive report from Mixmag Dance Music Ambassador Tiësto. Every month Tijs will be blogging about life at the clubbing frontline, what’s pushing the boundaries of Trance, and what life is like behind the decks of one of the world’s biggest DJs…

“Happy Holidays to dance music fans around the world! Finally December has arrived and as another huge year draws to a close I can’t believe it’s been a month since I wrote my last Ambassador’s report for Mixmag, let alone that another year has gone by. Thanks to all of you who read the first installment of my exclusive monthly report – it’s a real privilege to be leading this life in the dance music industry, and I’m glad I can share a bit of that with you. As always this month I’ve a got inside info on the clubs and tunes that are rocking my world right now, as well as some stories from my life on the road.

November has been another hectic month for me, traveling over 30,000 miles and playing gigs across two continents, there have been some real highlights. My Kaleidoscope World Tour has now been going for over a year, but the shows are as exciting as the day I started.

Following a crazy few days in Las Vegas and New York, I flew out to Dominican Republic – which has got to be one of the most beautiful places on the planet – only to find the gig was cancelled due to bad weather, and then had to travel straight on to Miami, making for a 14-hour travel day. It’s probably hard to believe, but behind the decks and disco balls most DJ’s lives are spent in the departure lounge – not so glamorous but I wouldn’t change it for the world!

Still, it was worth it because I got to play one of my favourite clubs on the planet – LIV in Miami Beach. With its awesome luxurious interior and massive dancefloor – you feel like a king up there. Next up I headed to Beta Beta in Denver. I’ve seen some cool things in my years DJing, but they had a classic Pac-Man machine in the dressing room – very cool.

November also saw me head down under for my 2nd Australian tour of the year, joining many of my friends on the Stereosonic tour. I still can’t get my head around leaving on a Monday to arrive on a Wednesday – now that’s a seriously long flight. It’s always great to return there and I think the party-goers are more amped and ready to go than most people on the planet. With its tropical rainstorms, super-hot temperatures, and playing some seriously hot music, Brisbane has to be one of my my favourite place to play in Oz, and it did not disappoint once again. Next up I’m off to Asia to play Zoukout in Singapore – I’m very excited, but I’ll tell you all about that next month. I really had a great time playing and hanging with friends like Diplo, Sebastian Ingrosso, Calvin Harris and Benny Benassi.

Music-wise, it’s been another big month for me, with the release of my remix of Faithless ‘Tweak Your Nipple’. It was great to work with those guys again – they’ve been at the top for so long and work so tirelessly to make great music. ‘The Dance’ was definitely one of my favourite albums of the year. Speaking of which, in preparation for the Holiday Special edition of my Club Life podcast, I’ve been asking what have been your favourite tracks of 2010. There have been so many suggestions – it makes me realize what a great year it has been for dance music please head over to my facebook page to have your say and download the finished article when it’s ready.

Elsewhere, I am preparing for my 2011 monthly residency at The Joint at The Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas. I can’t wait to get started! I’ve also launched a new range of merchandise this month, so if you’re somewhere cold this winter you can wrap up warm. Me – I’m going to stick to the sunshine! Anyway, I’ve got to catch up on some sleep before another crazy night on the road.

Thanks to all the mixmag readers. As it is the Holiday Season I am giving away a free download of the instrumental version of ‘Dreaming’ – the track I created with BLK JKS. You can find it on my facebook page by clicking on the FREE MP3 tab. Happy Holidays – Catch you in the New Year!”
